THE ACTING CHALLENGE

When the going gets tough, the tough get going!.
Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen, we are gathered here to witness another proof of the HCECian’s resilience and versatility. But before that, may we invite everybody to rise and pay homage to Him who makes everything possible.
Almighty Father, you are our fountain of inspiration. We thank you for giving us life and its adversities; for making us strong in facing every trial; for revealing yourself to us in the guise of our parents, families and friends who constantly urge us to go on even when all else fail. Today,once again, we ask your loving guidance so that everything will work out smoothly. May everything we do be done for your greater Glory. We ask this through Your Son, Jesus Christ who lives and reigns with you, forever and ever, Amen. (Glory be…)
Every child is an artist. This conviction prodded us to form the HCEC Artists’ Center and the Performing Arts Club. Since July, most of us here witnessed the members of this club hurdled obstacles while they are striving to put their best foot forward in every way they can. Previous performances showcased their talents in dancing and singing.
This afternoon, another feast for the senses awaits us as the lucky nine will once again prove their mettle in the field of stage acting.
Ladies and Gentlemen:, let us all welcome on stage: the finalists in their production number!
PRODUCTION NUMBER
Just like the first two stages, selecting the best performer today will prove to be a tough job. That’s why, we have chosen tough people to accomplish the deed of deciding who will be the best among the best in the field of acting. Believe us folks, these people know what they are doing especially in the field of theater arts… our board of judges.
This is how this competition will proceed… 2 sets of video clips will be shown before the performances begin. One set for the boys and another for the girls. Each contestant will perform on stage with his/ her own interpretation of the scenes in the video. This is a test on creativity and confidence while adhering to the principles of stage acting. Let us not keep the suspense any longer…. Roll VTR….
FIRST BATCH PERFORMS
That was our first batch of performers. While the next batch prepares for their turn, let us be reminded that we will just be witnessing a small part of the population of gifted pupils. There are more HCECians out there whose talents beg to be discovered and unleashed. This is the major objective of establishing this performing arts club. Aside from the lucky nine members we have today, the club has other members gifted in their fields. We will meet them again in the grand Finale on February 23 this year. But why wait that long when we can have a taste of one of our performers….. ladies and gentlemen: Francis Jenner T. Bernales

a round of applause for our second batch… while our last batch of performers are trying to cool their heels backstage, allow me to read to you the criteria for judging their performances

The total grade for the acting challenge comprise 30% of their overall grade… 30% will come fromtheir dance challenge , another 30% from their singing challenge and the 10% will come from you… HCECians who will vote through a ballot starting Monday next week. good luck to our performers ……
THIRD BATCH PERFORMS
That about completes our competition for the day … and what a tough competition that was. Our contenders are not only competing to gain accolade for themselves but also for their respective teams. Every award that they receive will have a corresponding points for their teams.
Our judges must have had some grueling minutes. Let us recognize their efforts….

That ends the last leg of our competition. See you again on the Grand announcement of the terrific ten and final four on February 23, 2005. Don’t forget to cast your votes before February 20.

J Mind Olympics ( an academic race in the field of Science and Math)
J Intramurals ( showcasing athletic competitions)
J Extra challenge ( a tough match among the team advisers)
J Exhibition game (a must–be-seen event from our athletic parents)
J Family day on Safari ( the most awaited Family get together)
